Get into the Sub-Ohm Vape Lifestyle

If you’re interested in ditching your cigarettes in favor of vaping, welcome to the club.  Before you run out and purchase the first vaping system that you can find, it’s important for you to understand that vaping technology has evolved so much over the years that today, there are many different vaping styles out there, each with its own unique set of hardware.

One of the most popular styles is known as sub-ohm vaping, and many users feel that it’s superior to all other kinds of vaping out there.  In this article, you’ll discover why sub-ohm vaping continues to reign supreme despite all of the new advancements in the vaping industry.

What is Sub-Ohm Vaping?

Sub-ohm vaping is a style of vaping that was developed almost ten years ago.  It was created because the low-wattage e-cigarettes that were on the market weren’t considered powerful enough to really satisfy former smokers’ cravings.  Sub-ohm vaping is, in many ways, the antithesis to vaping with a low-wattage e-cig.  While e-cigs typically operate at low output levels and utilize high-resistance coils, sub-ohm setups do the opposite.  Today’s sub-ohm vaping setups reach incredibly high wattage levels and utilize low-resistance coils, known as sub-ohm coils, hence the name.

Sub-ohm vaping systems are a bit more complex than other types of setups on the market, however.  They’re more advanced devices, which means that they require a little bit of technological understanding.  And, they come with lots of options so that the user can customize their vaping experience.

Ohm’s Law

Before you start using a sub-ohm setup, you have to understand the scientific laws that dictate how you should operate this type of system.  Besides helping you program your device properly; these laws will help you stay safe.

Ohm’s Law is perhaps the most important scientific law to utilize while you set up your sub-ohm system.  Ohm’s Law determines what the coil’s resistance level should be based on the voltage and current of your device.  As you know, the coil’s resistance level must be compatible with the output level of your vaping device in order for you to have a successful vape.

Ohm’s Law is also relatively simple.  In order to figure out which resistance level is best, you divide the voltage level of your battery by its current level.

Joule’s Law

Joule’s Law is also extremely important as it explains the relationship between your device’s wattage level, its current level and its voltage.  One joule per second is known as one watt.  To figure out the right wattage level for your device, you must multiply your battery’s voltage by its current.

Using these two laws will allow you to determine which coil to use and which wattage to set your device at in order to experience the most satisfying vape.

What You Need to Get Started

Now that you understand the basics of sub-ohm vaping and the scientific laws that are used to set up this type of system, we can get into the different components that are required in order for you to enjoy this vaping style.

A Mod

A mod is any vaping device.  The device connects to the atomizer or vape tank in order to become a vaping system.  The mod is what contains the battery, and it often features some way to adjust your output levels in addition to buttons that fire the device and turn it on and off.

There are lots of mods on the market today, and each one is unique.  Typically, with sub-ohm vaping, mods are divided into two categories: box mods and pen mods.  Pen mods came first, and they’re fairly compact.  However, because of their small size, they don’t reach extremely high wattage levels.  They also don’t feature the wide array of settings and features that box mods typically offer.

Box mods, on the other hand, are fairly large devices that are usually rectangular in shape.  These are highly advanced devices that can reach extremely high wattage levels because they can contain more powerful batteries.  Today’s box mods can reach more than 200 watts, which is great for users who want a seriously powerful vape that delivers lots and lots of vapor.

Modern box mods come with lots of advanced features and allow the user to customize their experience with a wide array of settings such as bypass mode, memory mode and temperature control.  They tend to feature display screens that allow the user to navigate through all of the different settings that are available.

Sub-Ohm Coils

Now, if you’re going to start sub-ohm vaping, you’re going to need sub-ohm coils.  After all, that’s where this style of vaping gets its name from.  Sub-ohm coils are simply coils that have a resistance level that’s below one ohm.  Because of this low resistance level, the coil can work with the high wattage levels at which mods operate.

Sub-ohm coils are typically made of stainless steel and organic cotton.  They are installed into the tank of the setup, and they must be saturated with e-liquid at all times so that they don’t burn out when they’re heated by the battery.  The coil allows the e-liquid to become vapor by applying heat to it.

These coils come in a wide array of resistance levels, and you can explore different ones in order to figure out which best suits your vaping preferences.  Coils need to be replaced fairly regularly, so it’s important that you always have some spare ones on hand.

High Capacity Batteries

Now, you need to get the right batteries.  Sub-ohm vaping requires a lot of power, so you need batteries that can handle the job.  Most mods take two lithium-ion batteries, although some that are on the market today require only one.

With sub-ohm vaping, you should pick batteries that each have a capacity of 2500mAh or higher.  These batteries can endure the high wattage levels without dying out quickly.

A Sub-Ohm Tank

Next, it’s time to grab a sub-ohm tank.  A sub-ohm tank is basically any vape tank that has a large juice well and can contain a sub-ohm coil.  A sub-ohm tank should be made from resilient steel and strong Pyrex glass.  This is because the high temperatures that the coils reach can melt anything that’s made from cheap, non-durable materials.

Freebase Nic Vape Juice

Lastly, you’ll want to get purchase a Freebase nicotine e-liquid, a type of nicotine compatible with this style of vaping.  You can choose from the wide array of flavors that are available today.

Benefits of Sub-Ohm Vaping Over Other Vaping Styles

Now that you have an idea of what’s needed, here are some awesome reasons to get into the sub-ohm game:

Cloud Production

Sub-ohm vaping is conducive to a hobby known as cloud-chasing.  Because of the high wattage levels, each hit delivers an abundance of thick vapor known as a vape cloud.  Many users enjoy the visual element of blowing huge vape clouds.

More Customization

Sub-ohm vaping is also enjoyable because it allows the user to customize their experience.  Sub-ohm setups tend to come with lots of unique features, giving the user the ability to play around with different settings.

Control the Fog Game

Sub-ohm vaping is a very popular style of vaping that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.  If you want to start getting into this style of vaping, make sure that you purchase the right components and grasp the basics of Ohm’s Law and Joule’s Law.  Before you know it, you’ll be chasing massive vape clouds all day long.
